Where is my partner? Installation of pheromone trap for butterflies

The principle is simple, it involves attracting male butterflies to a trap by imitating the smell of females. Installed around mid-June, the traps must be clean, equipped with a pheromone specific to the oak processionary and filled with water. Once placed in the tree, the pheromone disturbs the males to find the female butterflies, exhausted from searching they end up falling into the trap and are thus captured. Trapping using pheromones makes it possible to assess the evolution of populations but can also contribute to reducing the number of matings and thus the number of clutches.
