Let’s talk one last time… Removing the nest, a stinging and tedious or expensive activity

Namely, an empty nest still contains millions of stinging hairs and would pollute the direct environment of the tree for several years. In order to limit the proliferation of processionary caterpillars and thus stinging hairs, you can remove the caterpillar nests. For this we recommend the burning method. It is then necessary to be equipped with integral protection: combination, mask, glasses, gloves, protective band on the handles and in the neck. After having moistened the tree or after a shower, use a pole (minimum 8 meters) fitted with a torch, and burn the nest from a distance, once it is very red, use a scraper (always from a distance) to make it fall. Currently another method is applied by professionals: aspiration. This technique consists of vacuuming the nests/plaques using suitable equipment (equipped with a filtration system for stinging hairs). These techniques being particularly delicate to implement, we invite you to contact a professional for further information or advice. Otherwise we offer the SOLU'CHÊNE solution.
