An Appetizing Biological BTK Treatment for Leaf-Loading Caterpillars

In the spring, as soon as the leaves appear, you can spray the foliage of the oak with an organic insecticide based on Bacillus thuringiensis (BTK), a bacterium (approved in organic farming). The caterpillars will feed by consuming the leaves coated with BTK. The bacteria present in the BTK will lead to the death of the caterpillar after infesting its digestive system. This treatment is safe for humans and the environment. It allows a reduction in the number of caterpillars and a decrease in the nuisance caused by the stinging hairs of this one.
